I love to see the Temple...

When life is crazy, when you feel like there is just not much about your life that is going right, there is a place here on earth that lets you know you are not alone. It's been a few months since I have been able to go to the temple. Really it's my fault for not making time to attend. After yesterday afternoon I know I can not let life take over. I love the temple, I know my father lives, that he sent his son here to earth for me and my family, my Savor lives so that we can be together forever. The temple is the Lords house here on earth that makes it all possible. I'm thankful to know this truth, and to know I'm not alone. Ben cried all day because he could not go to the temple with me, he said "I want to go see heavenly father too, it's not fair I can't go, I love him too!" If we all could just have that wanting in our life like a little child, what love and peace would be on the earth, and how easy would it be to keep our lives always worthy to attend the temple...

Mom, I think I was wrong...

So tonight Ben watched me make dinner. Being the good helper that he is, he asked if we could have broccoli for dinner. Sure I said, "you know that they are the little trees?" Ben replying, "yes I like them now you and dad teaches me how to eat healthy food now remember?" So after dinner Ben is still sitting at the table with the 2 little pieces of broccoli on his plate. I decide we will just go ahead and have family home evening at the table. When it was his turn for family business he said, "I think that tomorrow for dinner we have to have corn and no more broccoli, mom lied it's not good for you anymore, right Jake?" I tell ya I love this kid he has something to say matter of fact ALL day long...

BIG DAY at our house...

Yesterday was a big day at our house, it was Jake's first day at cub scout's. He was so excited he told everyone at school and home that he is going to scout's like his big bothers. He did a great job and seemed to enjoy it. It wasn't that way for me, I have always been very protective of Jake. When I was walking out of the church leaving him behind I felt a lot of anxiety. But the good news is I lived through it. The last 22 hours have been all about how fun scout's is. So that was a long paragraph just to say; "HE LOVED IT"

"My bragging right as a mom!"

As a mom I have the right to brag about my kids. So if you don't want to here me brag, than don't finish reading this post! I just want to start by saying I know it's hard to be a teenager these days. I know my children will go though things I never even thought of as a teen. But today I am very thankful for my boys, they are such faithful, strong young men. They are helpful and mindful and don't seem to be bothered with giving into the crowd. Don't get me wrong they are popular, and with Trav it seems that we are always talking to him about not giving into the girls that are always chasing him about being their boyfriend. I am a firm believer in not having a girlfriend, boyfriend relationship until your home from a mission. I believe in having fun and dating a lot of different people, soon enough you will be with just one. Being a teenager only comes once in your life (thankfully) so have fun. All to soon you will have to think about more than just you. I'm so thankful that even though I am not a very good mom, I must have some good in me because my boys talk to me and even cry on my shoulder sometimes about what is happening in their lives. They both like to attend church and even share their love of the gospel with their family and others. I'm thankful it's not something that they do because they have to, but because they want to. I'm thankful that as teenage boys they still would prefer to hangout with their family even if they were invited to hang with friends on holidays. I guess what I'm saying is that I feel very blessed to have such wonderful teenage boys. I hope I always do right by them and stay worthy to live with them in the eternities.

What did happen over the Christmas Holiday?

Well as you can guess I was not very good at blogging over the holiday's, so here is a preview of "Oh what fun we had, singing all the way!"

We start by having to go see Santa AGAIN!!

The reason why we had to see him AGAIN, Ben forgot to tell him he wanted a pillow pet for Christmas. After listing to him tell me this 3-4 times a day for 2 weeks, I broke down and went!!
He stopped talking to him after 5-7 minutes and we told him we had to go. There are other children here to talk to Santa.
Then we had the school sing-a-long. Jake was sick but Meg did a great job. We also had Meg's first concert with her playing her Viola.
My sister Christy brought over some elf hats left from her school class elf training that she does very year. Believe it or not, Travis was the first to put a hat on and want a picture taken!!
We went to Ogden city hall fair grounds to see the Christmas village light display. Grandpa and Grandma Squire joined us for the fun evening, we went to dinner and had over tradition of donuts and hot chocolate after the lights. (YUMMY) We had our Christmas eve party at my bother Rob's house. His basement goes on forever, makes it nice for a big family party.

We played games...
We had yummy food...

We had a great program that really helped all of us fill the spirit of Christmas and the spirit of Christ...

Jake got a new bike, for a big boy... Because the weather was so nice he was able to learn how to ride it...
(He picked it up fast and did a great job at riding it)
I know I don't have pictures of the other kids, but honestly I got so caught up in Christmas morning I forgot to take pictures. I could go on about what everyone got but again that's not what Christmas is about. It's about remembering our Savior and how much he loves us, to give us the best Christmas gift anyone on earth will ever get, eternal life! So there you have it our holiday preview. It was a wonderful season and I love feeling so close to my family, but I'm glad it's gone for a few!!
